Indeed, it true ~ This happens only in India. In-promptu Street/Roadside Puja Pandals. Of course, we have the main grand ones like Durga Puja, Ganpati etc, that lasts for few days if not weeks. But very often, you'll come across these 'hatke' aka unique puja pandals too, that are just inpromptu and make-shift; mostly in celebration of Ramnavami, Satyanaran or Viskwakarma ( hope the names are correct ) etc. Either some politician is holding one, to please his followers or just random; and mainly near railway stations or bus-stops. A crowd gathers and its fun to watch people always; their 'interesting' beliefs. Sometimes the decorations of these pandals are kept simple, sometimes quite elaborate and sometimes they have quite huge rangolis as well. Some people maybe found deep in prayers in middle of the road itself, with folded hands and eyes closed, while some would be busy clicking pictures ( like me ). And yeah, if you are lucky you might get some prasadam too :-) The last picture is a typical puja organized by a neighbourhood housing-society.
*In my 'People' series, I try and catch candid glimpses of people in their own intriguing world. Hope you enjoy the clicks and the stories behind them. If you want to be featured here, send us an email with your story :-)
