HOME AND PARKING ON THE STREETS

I was returning home the other day, when something caught my eye. This broad road-divider, below a busy flyer. And since it is broad enough to fit a person, someone decided to make it his home. I don't blame him. With the fly-over above as a roof, and the iron-grills on both sides of the divider as his walls, I guess the man is quite comfortable in his home. Encroaching? Ah..I think he is making good use of public-space ;-) Would've loved to know his story; how he actually landed there.

A few steps ahead, in another block of the same divider, someone even parked his bi-cycle. See the chain and lock? Amazing to say the least!!! This one surely had an attitude to it!

PARK IN THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

The other day I was taking my usual evening stroll, but in a separate road, that I normally don't take. I walked on and on and came upon something that looked like an amusement park of sorts - only it was much smaller. Intrigued, I went nearer to see what it was.

The lane is shaded with tall trees so its quite breezy.

Ah! So, it was a Children's park. How sweet :-) Many children were playing about merrily.

All those interesting play-things made me so wish I was a child again. Sigh!

NOTICE SOMETHING WEIRD?

Kenstar Oxy Frier

See anything unusual? No right?

Kenstar Oxy Frier

Have a closer look. Seems like an ordinary playschool and nursery.

Now see this! Read the signboard carefully. Bar and restaurant.

Kenstar Oxy Frier

Unusual right? Bar right next to a playschool, that too in the same building.

CRICKET MANIA

So, the other day I was returning home and as I went up the railway-station steps, I saw a huge crowd in the landing. I wondered what it was, as I saw all of them glancing up at a huge screen. I went nearer and nearer. The giant screen was showing some cricket-match, and everyone's eyes were hooked on the open screen. Ah! What else can you expect from a cricket crazy country? People stop in their tracks and ogle at TV screens at shops, when a live-match is on. And here was this huge screen set up, specially for it. I took my mobile and started clicking, but obviously, all were too engrossed in the game to notice what I was doing. Thus, making it a perfect topic for my 'People' series ;-) Enjoy!

IT HAPPENS ONLY IN INDIA

Indeed, it true ~ This happens only in India. In-promptu Street/Roadside Puja Pandals. Of course, we have the main grand ones like Durga Puja, Ganpati etc, that lasts for few days if not weeks. But very often, you'll come across these 'hatke' aka unique puja pandals too, that are just inpromptu and make-shift; mostly in celebration of Ramnavami, Satyanaran or Viskwakarma ( hope the names are correct ) etc. Either some politician is holding one, to please his followers or just random; and mainly near railway stations or bus-stops. A crowd gathers and its fun to watch people always; their 'interesting' beliefs. Sometimes the decorations of these pandals are kept simple, sometimes quite elaborate and sometimes they have quite huge rangolis as well. Some people maybe found deep in prayers in middle of the road itself, with folded hands and eyes closed, while some would be busy clicking pictures ( like me ). And yeah, if you are lucky you might get some prasadam too :-) The last picture is a typical puja organized by a neighbourhood housing-society.

A DAY AT THE RAILWAY STATION RESERVATION COUNTER

RAILWAY STATION RESERVATION COUNTER
Got clicking at the railway reservation counter recently. Didn't focus on anyone particular - just focused on the fact, how each of these people are headed to various directions all over India. India has one the world's most oldest and largest railway networks. For reservations, we have to get a token number and wait till our number flashes on the screen ~ so, while I waited my turn just observed around ~ the people lost in their own world.
